6 August 2014 Pollen contaminated with neonics harms bee colonies, especially queens
A new study demonstrates the negative impact of two bee-toxic neonics (clothianidin and thiamethoxam) present in the pollen of treated crops as well as in the pollen of wild flowers surrounding treated crops. This study is original in the way honey bee colonies have been fed with pollen contaminated with clothianidin and thiamethoxam while generally toxicity experiments use sugar syrup. This gives a new insight on the toxic effect of neonics.
